ロメオ・ノイエ

札幌市郊外の藻岩山南斜面に建つ住宅。車好きのクライアントにとって「日々の生活スペースからどのように愛車を眺めるか」はとても重要なテーマであった。ここでの我々の提案は、『ガレージとリビングが隣接する』ような直接的な繋がりではなく、生活スペースと愛車との間に北海道の美しい四季を取り込む『リフレクトガーデン』を設けることであった。「リフレクトガーデン」には薄い水盤が設けられ、そこに降る雨や雪、日差しや風の動きを増幅して室内に取り込むことが出来る。願わくば、こうした日々変化する外部環境を介して車を眺めることにより、停まっているはずの愛車に動きが表れ、車という機械が自然環境の一部にまで昇華してくれればという考えである。

敷地の北側は木々のある公園に接しているものの、傾斜地の為に公園利用者から住宅内部が見えやすい状況にあった。そのため北面の開口部は大きさや位置、ガラスの種類などを検討し、木々の眺めを断片的に内部へ取り込んでいる。それら断片的な木々の画像が、内側に住まう人の心の中で再統合され、大きな森をイメージさせようという仕掛けである。

こうして室内に取り込まれた車を含めた種々変化する外部環境が、シンプルな平屋住宅に複雑な表情を与え、外部形態からは想像しがたい多くの場面を作り出してくれることを期待している。

House for Mr. Romeo

This residence is built on the south slope of Mt. Moiwa in Sapporo, the capital city of Hokkaido.  For this client who loves cars, it was very important to consider how he can look at his own car from his daily living space.  Instead of locating the car garage and the living room next to each other directly, our proposal was to provide a “reflect-garden”, which brings the seasonal beauty of Hokkaido in between the living space and his car.  In the “reflect-garden”, a shallow water board is installed to amplify and take rain shower, snowfall, sun lights, and wind movement into the interior.  Hopefully, the client could feel as his car is in motion by looking it through the outside environment changing daily, which may lead this car, a machine, to become almost a part of the natural environment for him. 

There is a small park on the north side of the site.  Although there are trees in the park, inside of the residence was easily to be seen from the park users because of a sloping ground.  Therefore, the opening on the north side was considered in its size, position, and glass type, to take the view and coloring of the trees fragmentary into the interior.   It was set up for the residents to make them imagine a large forest in their mind by re-unifying these fragmentary images of the trees. 

We are hoping that the outside environment changing in various ways, including the vehicle brought inside, giving the complexity to this simple one-story residence, and bringing various scenes to the interior, which could be hardly expected from the external form.
