IMPROVIDE OFFICE(内装設計)

“Maple Court” was designed by architect Yoshimi Nakai, under whom our principal, Akasaka, apprenticed before establishing the practice. ( Completed in 1991 in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, the project was featured in the August 1992 issue of Shinkenchiku.)
We were fortunate to be given the opportunity to renovate its 4th and 5th floors as offices for IMPROVIDE Inc.
Responding to the original design concept of Maple Court—which embodies the site’s unique position at the threshold between the rich natural setting of a nearby shrine and the surrounding urban fabric—we carefully developed the project by interpreting the building’s existing continuity with its environment and its flexible relationship with the city. Inspired by Nakai’s idea of “actively engaging urban space from architectural space,” the renovation sought to create an open interior environment in which people, nature, and the city are gently interconnected.
